My god, I am insane.
My mother tought me to crochet when I was six years old. I didn't start working with thread 'til I was twelve, but I must say the result is much better than yarn. Yeah I know I'm probably the only teenager around here who does projects like this, but then, I have this love of lost arts....
I did this over two years ago, but I'm posting it anyway. It must be the hardest thing I've ever made - though that was more the time factor of making it - spent my entire Christmas vacation in 7th grade crocheting it. My dad found it really funny, we would be out shopping or whatever and the minute I got home I would pick this up and start working.
Since I made it so long ago, I do notice some flaws in it now, but I am still proud of it. So it is my masterpiece of all time, and it lives in my room :)
I actually considered selling it once... I have no idea what got into me. But now I am considering doing more of them. I just need more size 30 thread and a free week... spring vacation!

Pattern is "Viennese Waltz," from a croceting magazine I used to get (the title of which I can't remember right now...)

We deserve our own forum, don't we? Not sharing with the Traditional section? Come on, I know there's enough of us artisans! :) [link]

Girl, you are crazy! But then, so am I. :) I stare at the photo going, Shit, that must have been a lot of effort, I don't think I could have had the patience for something like that. But then, everyone has their own things they can spend hours and hours doing. I do too. And you're totally not the only teen who spends their time on stuff like this; I've been sewing like crazy since I was 11, and now at the age of 18, I've gotten a DD for something I worked my ass off on, blood, sweat, and tears, no exaggerations. I spend all my free time sewing or embroidering. Crafty things are so much fun! Lol. Very nice work, keep it up!

True, we've all got our obsessions - I can't spend hours on sewing without getting too picky about the result, but I can spend hours making jewelry or crocheting. They keep telling me at school I need to find something I'm passionate about - I suppose this counts!
So you've gotten a DD? Congratulations on it - I'll think of it as a sort of inspiration to keep up with what I'm doing here. It's quite an honor, I'd expect!

Thanks for the long comment! I appreciate it.

Thank you so much!! Crocheting does take a long time to get used to, but I learned when I was really young - I suppose I only had the patience for it because I was trying to copy my mother! And now I get to sell some things with her at craft fairs, so I think it's been worth it.
